Hakin United 3 Tenby 2 A TRIP to a cold, wet and windswept Obs to face a Hakin side sitting top of the league is never the most appealing of away days.

And what was already a difficult proposition for Tenby got much tougher when they were reduced to 10 men before the break.

Luke Askew received his marching orders for deliberately handling the ball on his own goal-line.

Paul Jones slotted away the resulting penalty to double the agony and give Hakin the lead.

The one man advantage began to take its toll after the break as the soggy pitch sapped the energy of the Tenby players.

Jones was on hand to beat Lewis Herlow again within 10 minutes of the restart to give Hakin a two goal cushion.

And the league-leaders continued to press forward and were rewarded with a third goal on the hour.

Nigel Armstrong went forward for a corner and met the ball with a powerful header to make it 3-0.

It could have become a rout but Tenby battled well. They got a boost when Hakin's Bruce Wisby became the second man sent off and gave Hakin a slight scare before the final whistle.

With 15 minutes remaining a Tenby free-kick was smashed into the area and Hakin skipper Gary Dawes was unlucky enough to deflect the effort into his own net.

It should have been little more than consolation for the visitors but, with 10 minutes to go, striker Jack Christopher beat Hakin keeper Jason Morgan to take his side within a goal of an unlikely draw.

Tenby battled through to the final whistle but were unable to find a third goal and Hakin took the points to maintain their position on top of Pembrokeshire League Division One.
