TRIBUTE has been paid to a young Milford man, found dead at his home on the Mount Estate on Monday.

Police enquiries are continuing into the cause of death of Darren Gareth Cleevely, who was just 22.

Though Darren was known to have suffered depression, his mother Janet is sure his death was a tragic accident and is urging his friends not to blame themselves.

"Until I saw him I was just convinced they had the wrong person. It still doesn't feel real. The whole family is numb.

"He was a happy-go-lucky lad. Everybody said he had a natural sense of humour, which on a good day, would shine through. He had a wicked little smile that just melted everybody.

"Along with the highs came the lows but he had a lot of good friends that were helping him through the bad times.

"I know they're all blaming themselves but I just want them to know that not one of them could have done any more.

"The last couple of weeks, he's been the happiest he's ever been, which is why I know what happened was accidental. Just an unfortunate accident."

Mount Estate development worker Colin Robbins said: "Darren really was a very likeable lad and he was making a tremendous effort to get his life on track.

"He'd been a volunteer with the DIY scheme for a couple of months, and was always very punctual and very polite.

"From there we were going to put him into paid training and he was going to go on the new handyman scheme which would have led to a permanent job. He was also just about to start driving lessons.

"We were working very hard with him, and he was taking on board everything that was going on and making a tremendous effort.

"Everybody up here is shocked and saddened, and our hearts go out to his family."

The funeral will take place on Monday, August 22, at 11am at the Church of the Holy Sprit, and 12.45pm at Parc Gwyn Crematorium.

All are welcome to join the family at the Lord Kitchener afterwards to celebrate Darren's life.
