Lawrenny (260 for 6) beat Lamphey (155 all out)

LAWRENNY blasted Lamphey for 260 and then did the business with the ball to ensure a big win over the doomed side.

Good knocks from Ian Jenkins, Christian Phillips, Andrew Cole senior, James Buckle and Steve Lewis helped Lawrenny post a mammoth score.

The home side fought back from an early blow when Rob Williams was sent back to the pavilion without a run on the board.

Phillips and Cole shared a crucial 75 stand that got them back on track before Phillips fell for 28.

Simon Cole failed to make his usual impression from the number four berth but Jenkins restored the momentum with a quality 76 not out.

Jenkins took an instant liking to the bowling and was positive from the outset.

For Lamphey Akhtar Ali claimed two for 32 but it was not enough to stop the onslaught as Lawrenny captain Buckle thumped a typically powerful 45.

Lewis ensured the pace didn't drop with his 42 and the Lamphey fielders were left chasing all over the park.

After tea Lamphey began solidly through Rob Mathias and Gareth Nicholas. They opened up with a partnership of 50 before Nicholas fell for 26.

That, as so often has been the case, led to a collapse as not one of the remaining batsmen could reach the double figure mark.

Mathias continued to play strokes throughout the carnage and had fired nine fours and two sixes in his 68 before becoming the sixth Lamphey batsmen out.

Phil Cole was the pick of the Lawrenny bowling with his spinners claiming four for 46, and Jenkins showed his all-round skills to claim two for nine and condemn Lamphey to their 13th defeat of a long, hard season.
