TWO watersports enthusiasts have launched a new paddle boarding and surfing company.

Founders Cleopatra Browne and Libby Chivers have set up their new venture, Board Games Surfing, last month (March) just ahead of the peak season.

With more than 27-years of experience in water-based activities, the two entrepreneurs saw a gap in the market and wanted to take advantage of a great business opportunity.

Paddle boarding has become an extremely popular water sport across the globe and Cleo and Libby are determined to make Board Games Surfing one of the key providers in Britain.

A passionate surfer herself, it was Libby’s desire to get other people out on the water too which inspired the business.

“The one thing that crept into my mind was those lovely flat calm sunny days we get here in Pembrokeshire which make surfing every day a little tricky,” she said. “And then I thought about stand up paddle boarding, bingo.”

Cleopatra Browne, owner and managing director of the award-winning Celtic Quest Coasteering, will continue to run her business alongside the new venture.

Libby is excited about the future. “Working with Cleo seemed like a great plan, as we have been friends for a number of years.

“Two ladies, two brains, two mates, lots of passion - this was all turning into a bit of a dream.

“I am looking forward to getting everyone out there on a board, with the season fast approaching it is getting super exciting.”

Pembrokeshire Tourism chief executive Maudie Hughes said: “Pembrokeshire has a superb coast line and one of the best ways to explore it is from the water.

“Whether an experienced surfer, or a complete beginner, having a go at paddle boarding, Board Games Surfing adds another dimension to the offering here in the county. We wish the team lots of luck in their new venture.”
