A POPULAR former nightclub is to be converted into a nursing home.
The former DJs nightclub in Penally will be converted into a 31 bedroom nursing home with treatment rooms, dining room, sitting room, kitchen, reception, recreation area, laundry and pharmacy.
There will be minor alterations and improvements on the outside of the building and facilities developed over three floors inside.
A footpath linking the site and the village will also be provided via planning conditions to assist those walking to work.
Pembrokeshire County Council’s planning committee agreed there was a “need” for such a facility and it would provide a “planning gain.”
Cllr Michael Williams said: “This building has been empty for many years and is becoming an eyesore, this is a welcome development.”
Cllrs David Bryan, Brian Hall and David Pugh also highlighted the need for the development of such facilities and supported the application.
Cllr Pugh added he had recently faced difficulty finding a suitable place for a family member with waiting lists at many homes.
Its approval replaces a 2016 plan for 11 dwellings on the site.
The committee approved the plan unanimously on October 1.
