A drink-driver has been banned for a year after he handed police a blue beverage at Pembroke port.
John Howard Walker, of St Pauls Road, Cheltenham, pleaded guilty to driving while over the legal alcohol limit when he appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates on Tuesday, October 9.
Sian Vaughan, prosecuting, said officers could smell alcohol when they spoke to Walker, 55, at Pembroke port in the early hours of September 22.
When questioned about whether he had consumed alcohol he replied: “Yes, I may have had some, not much, just a little.”
Walker then produced a bottle containing blue liquid made up of vodka mixed with a sports drink.
He was found to have 43mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, the legal limit is 35mg.
Katy Hanson, defending, said the offence was out of character for Walker, who had no previous convictions.
“He says he was under a lot of pressure and stress on this occasion, and was very stupid. He apologises to the court.”
Walker was banned from driving for 12 months and fined £150.
Magistrates ordered him to pay £85 court costs and a £30 surcharge.
