Services were held in St Mary’s Church and the Memorial Hall as Newport residents paid tribute to the fallen on Remembrance Sunday.
Wreaths were laid on behalf of The Royal British Legion, Lord Marcher, Newport Town Council, Newport Chamber of Trade and the Merchant Navy Association.
The town's new mayor Tyrone Williams, who took over the chains for the first time the previous evening, took part in a parade through the town's streets, led by standard bearer Tim Thomas.
