POLICE investigating reports of a burglary found two drug dealers instead.

Reece Ford, 19, was visiting his friend, and fellow drug dealer, Kieran Rees so that he could borrow his digital scales to weigh out cannabis deals.

Ford, of Maes y Bryn, Llandissilio, and Rees, aged 21, of The Clicketts, Tenby, admitted possessing cannabis with intent to supply and being concerned in the supply of cannabis.

Dean Pulling, prosecuting, told Swansea crown court on Friday, December 7, how officers went to Summer Cottage, Valley Road, Solva, on May 29 last year and could smell cannabis.

The property belonged to Rees' mother, he added.

Police found 23 grams of cannabis and four deals already packaged, which Ford had taken to the house to be weighed.

During questioning Rees admitted officers would find cannabis belonging to him, and a search revealed 45 grams hidden in a bedroom.

Mr Pulling said examinations of mobile telephones showed the defendants had been dealing on their own behalfs, but also co-operating with each other.

For example, he said, Ford had sent Rees a message saying [sic]: "Loads of people are asking for smokes. Get your arise back here--you are businessman”.

Judge Geraint Walters said that message typified their attitude-they regarded dealing in drugs as a business.

"You both regarded it as a way of making money and thought it was too good to be true.

"But a business needs a plan that highlights the pitfalls, such as getting caught and going to prison."

Rees, a chef working in Saundersfoot, and Ford were jailed for eight months, suspended for two years, and ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work.
