MORE than £1,800 has been raised for Withybush Hospital's renal unit, in memory of a 27-year-old woman.

Aimee Denise Williams of St Clements Park, Freystrop, died in June, after a lifelong illness.

Portfield School pupil Aimee had suffered with kidney problems for most of her life, receiving a kidney transplant aged 11.

She spent many of her recent birthdays in hospital, and often had to travel to Morriston hospital for treatment.

Her grandparents held an open garden event in her memory in August, which raised £1070, and a further £815 was raised from donations in lieu of funeral flowers.

The money will go towards a fistula scanner for patients in Pembrokeshire, to the ACDU ward at Withybush Hospital, and to Perrotts Lodge respite home.

Aimee's nan Gwenda Mason thanked family, friends, and everyone who donated so generously in memory of a very special daughter, sister, granddaughter and niece.
