Attempting to steal girls’ clothing has resulted in a prison sentence for a Pembroke Dock man.

Luke Ian Brummitt, appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates on Tuesday, December 11, via video link from Swansea prison, and pleaded guilty to attempted theft from a shop.

Prosecutor Abul Hussain, told the court that Brummitt, 40, selected a range of girls’ garments worth £108 from Next, Haverfordwest, and attempted to walk out of the store without paying for them on August 2.

Brummitt, of Queen Street, left the items after being stopped and confronted by members of staff.

Jonathan Webb, defending, said Brummitt was currently serving a 20 week prison sentence for a number of offences, which post-dated this charge.

Magistrates sentenced Brummitt to seven days in prison, to run concurrently with his existing sentence.

He was ordered to pay £200 in costs and a surcharge.
