NEYLAND'S first ever festive fun run took place this morning, with around 140 people taking part.

Dressed as elves, reindeer and even Christmas trees, the first group of runners lined up at Brunel Quay at 9am.

Some 77 children and parents took part in the first race, with 63 people entered into the second heat at 10am.

The first adult back over the finish line was Henry Durrant, with a time of 21 minutes and 47 seconds.

Mayor of Neyland, Cllr Simon Hancock, commended the hard work of main organisers Jonny Sutton and Gareth Lawlor, town clerk Jane Clark, and the hard work of marshals.

Father Christmas was on hand to present the children with their race medals, while Cllr Hancock handed out the adult competitor medals.

"I am sure this event will be the first of many, judging by its popularity with entrants from as far afield as Llysyfran and Stackpole," said Cllr Hancock.

"There was a great atmosphere with everyone enjoying themselves."
