WHEN a Pembrokeshire man decided to propose to his girlfriend, he knew he had to come up with something special - and Christmas Day was the time to do it.

Tyler Goodrick, from Hundleton, had been trying to find the perfect way to propose to his partner Shannah Adams, from Milford Haven, and he wanted to do something big.

“I’d been trying to come up with something to do,” Tyler said.

“I knew she didn’t want anything in public, anywhere with a lot of people.

“I was thinking of doing it on the beach, but then one of our friends did it on Freshwater, so I had to scratch that idea.”

Milford Mercury:

Tyler decided to go to his mum, Linda, to come up with a plan.

After some discussions, they decided to write a message for her in the bank next to his parents’ house.

The only problem was how to keep Shannah from seeing it as it was being laid out.

But Tyler and Linda came up with a cunning plan.

“I said to mum we’re going to have keep her busy and she said 'leave it to me'.

“On Christmas Eve my mum took her out to deliver cards.

“While they were out me and my dad placed about 150 fence posts.

“We had just enough for ‘Will you marry me’ and the two kisses underneath.”

Tyler said it took him and his father almost three hours to get everything in place.

On Christmas morning Tyler presented Shannah with a pair of wellies and asked her to put them on and accompany him outside.

“She was a bit perplexed with the poor Christmas present until I took her outside,” he added.
Shannah said: “Tyler has an amazing skill of hiding what he’s doing, he took me out there thinking it was a new car or a motorbike.

“I was just completely shocked – I was asking ‘Is this real?’

“We had gone looking for rings [earlier in the year] but nothing happened, so I thought he was just teasing me. He made it seem like it wasn’t going to happen for a good while.

“I was in complete shock - It was unforgettable.”

The pair plan to wed in 2021 or 2022, either at a local church or on board a cruise ship.
