A Haverfordwest man has been sentenced to seven days in prison after destroying bottles in a supermarket.
Darren Connolly, previously of North Court, Haverfordwest, pleaded guilty to criminal damage when he appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates via video link from Swansea prison on Tuesday, January 8.
Vaughan Pritchard-Jones, prosecuting, told the court that Connolly, 34, selected a bottle of whisky and a bottle of lemonade after entering Lidl, Haverfordwest, on October 26.
“He attempted to buy them, but was told he would not be served because he was banned
“They got into an argument and he was told he had been threatening to a staff member on a different occasion.”
Connolly threw the bottles to the floor, causing the whisky bottle to smash and the lemonade container to crack.
Stuart John, defending, said: “He intended to pay for these items, but could not be served and did what he did out of frustration.”
Magistrates sentenced Connolly to seven days in custody to run concurrently with the prison sentence he was already serving.
He was ordered to pay £11.79 compensation to the store, £85 costs and a £115 surcharge.
