NARBERTH WI has been showing its love of the environment on St Valentine's Day.

At its February meeting, President Judy Smith, began by welcoming all, and then the events and items in the Federation newsletter were discussed and the names of members who were interested were noted.

The New Year lunch at Nant-y-Fin was enjoyed by all who attended. Good venue, good food and good company. What’s not to like? Suggestions were made for an encore in the near future. Thanks were expressed to the WI's efficient secretary, Meg Turner, for organising it.

Valentine's Day, Thursday February 14, saw members distributing green hearts, symbolising a love for the environment, to shops, customers and passers-by in Narberth High Street.

These hearts in varying shades of green, in varying sizes and in varying materials were all 'lovingly” made by some of the members.

As a new venture, on Thursday, February 21, at 2pm, in Narberth Rugby Club members will be holding a social afternoon where all can exchange views, voice their opinions, make suggestions for the future.

The monthly meetings are so busy with WI matters it is hoped this will be welcomed and successful.

The president introduced Jim Bowen from Clynfyw Care Farm, who told members how he and his father over 20 years ago had provided respite for vulnerable people.

The care farm now focuses on using nature and the nearby countryside for learning, for well-being, for a nature-based health service.

Mr Bowen was thanked for his most interesting and informative talk by Angela Walker.

The competition – an unusual bottle or tin was won by the president, and the raffle by Mary Scourfield.

Next monthly meeting: Thursday, March 7 at 2pm in Narberth Rugby Club. Everyone welcome.
