A HORSE in the Haverfordwest area has had its tail hair "hacked off with scissors" overnight recently.

Posting on Twitter today (March 5) Dyfed-Powys Police's Rural Crime Team said: "Worrying report of a horse's tail hair cut off.

"Horse had a full, long tail and it had been hacked off with scissors.

"The owner is concerned that persons have entered the field and done such an awful thing."

If you have any information contact Pembrokeshire Rural Crime Team on 101.

PCSO Jude Parr of the Pembrokeshire Rural Crime Team said another horse in the same field wasn't touched, stressing the horse which had it's tail cut wasn't harmed or mutilated.

PCSO Parr said the reason for the tail-cutting was unknown, but there was a market for horsehair tail extensions within the showing community.
