POUNDLAND has announced its Milford Haven store will close at the end of April, with talks currently taking place to relocate staff.

The shop at the Havens Head Retail Park is set to close its doors for the last time on Saturday, April 20, after Poundland was unable to come to new terms for renting the shop.

A spokesman for Poundland said: “We’ve not been able to negotiate a new rental agreement with our landlord at Milford Haven that would allow us to keep trading.

“We’re as disappointed as our colleagues and shoppers.”

The spokesman added: “We’d love to return in the future, but landlords have to recognise that rent and service charges can’t be at levels that make our operation uneconomic.

“We will, of course, do our best to find roles for the colleagues who work in the store. In the meantime, our nearest store will be at Haverfordwest .”

The shop is holding a closing down sale until it closes.
