SIGNING up to an online dating website has led to a return jail for a convicted paedophile who breached a sexual harm prevention order.

Simon Fleet, formerly of Pembroke Dock, now care of HMP Altcourse, Brookfield Drive, Liverpool, appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates via video link on Tuesday.
Fleet, 44, who is subject to the order which limits his use of the internet, pleaded guilty to creating a social media account on a dating website without making his offender manager aware of his actions, in Bangor, on February 7.
Vaughan Pritchard-Jones, prosecuting, said a sexual harm prevention order had been imposed by Swansea crown court last year after Fleet admitted attempting to engage in sexual activity with an underage girl, and he was being managed by the Pembrokeshire probation service following his release from prison.
“The police make various spot checks every now and again, and it was discovered that he was in possession of a number of telephones and a tablet that had internet access,” said Mr Pritchard-Jones.
“When examined it showed that he had created this account on a dating website. He is allowed to do this, provided that he makes his offender manager aware that he is doing it, so that it can be managed.”
Fleet was arrested and recalled to prison as a result of the offence.
Anthony O’Connell, defending, said Fleet had admitted the offence at the earliest opportunity.
“While he was aware he should not access to sites like Facebook, he was not aware that this particular site was something he should not.
“He is going to service a lengthy sentence on licence.”
Magistrates declined jurisdiction to sentence Fleet and he will next appear at Swansea crown court on April 30.
He was remanded in custody until that date.
