CLIMATE change protestors are meeting outside County Hall next week to call on the county council to declare a climate emergency.

Member of Extinction Rebellion Pembrokeshire will be meeting on Thursday, May 9, outside the county hall in an effort to "avert climate catastrophe."

A spokeswoman for the group said: "Members of Extinction Rebellion Pembrokeshire are going to meet at the entrance to County Hall to call for Pembrokeshire County Council to declare a climate emergency, in line with the Welsh and Scottish Governments and many local councils.

"This will be a peaceful, colourful non-violent demonstration to highlight the IPCC's report stating that we have a window of maybe 12 years to avert climate catastrophe and the extinction of the majority of life on earth."

Extinction Rebellion is a national movement which uses non-violent resistance to protest against climate change, biodiversity loss, and the risk of human extinction and ecological collapse. Over recent weeks the movement has become famous for causing disruption in London, with members glueing themselves to trains, buses and pavements.
