An exhibition of one of Wales’ most famous artists will close its doors for the final time at Glan-yr-afon/The Riverside this weekend.

More than 11,000 visitors have enjoyed Kyffin Williams: Land and Sea, the inaugural exhibition at Haverfordwest’s new flagship cultural centre, since it opened in December 2018.

For those who have yet to see this fantastic collection of the celebrated artist’s work, the good news is there’s still time to visit!

The exhibition will remain open, during venue opening hours, until it concludes its successful run at Glan-yr-afon/The Riverside on Saturday 11th May.

The gallery will then close from May 12-24 to make way for a new exhibition, which will be the jewel in the centre’s crown this summer.

The National Library of Wales’ will bring unique and iconic items from its collection to the county in Treasures.

The exhibition will feature original maps, works of art, photographs, audio-visual materials, books and manuscripts from the Library’s collections.

Items on display will include a map of Llareggub drawn by Dylan Thomas, the original score of the words and music of the Welsh National Anthem and an original copy of the 1588 William Morgan Bible.

A selection of the most important manuscripts in the history of Wales will also be featured, on a rolling programme, including the iconic Black Book of Carmarthen, the earliest Welsh manuscript which dates back to the 13th century.

Treasures will open to the public at Glan-yr-afon/The Riverside on Saturday 25th May, and will run until Saturday October 12.

Glan-yr-afon/The Riverside is the result of a partnership between Pembrokeshire County Council and The National Library of Wales.

Funding to build the facility came from a range of sources including Pembrokeshire County Council, Welsh Government, the Wolfson Foundation, the Foyle Foundation, and Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority.

Haverfordwest Town Council have given a five-year funding package to ensure the library is able to open throughout the year on Saturday afternoons, the previous library having been open on Saturday mornings only.
