A Haverfordwest woman was found sitting on the floor smoking peacefully while breaking a restraining order.
Claire Evans, of Market Street, appeared from custody at Haverfordwest magistrates court on Wednesday, May 8,and pleaded guilty to breaching the order.
Vaughan Pritchard-Jones, prosecuting, said police were called to a report of loud banging and crashing noises at 1.30pm on May 7, and entered a flat to find Evans sitting on the floor smoking a cigarette.
Evans, 38, was arrested as she was prohibited from contacting the flat occupant by a restraining order.
The court heard that she had previously breached the same order in April.
Mike Kelleher, defending, said Evans mistakenly thought that the order had been lifted, but was now ‘fully aware’ that it was still in existence.
“She was sitting peacefully on the floor smoking a cigarette when the police arrived.”
He added: “There has been no harassment, no violence, no threats, nothing of that nature.”
Magistrates sentenced Evans to six months in prison, suspended for 12 months and imposed a 26-week 7pm to 7am curfew.
She was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £115 surcharge.
The chairman of the bench said: “You must obey the instructions of the court, because the consequences if you don’t will be severe.”
