A KIND-HEARTED couple are making sure that people in need in the twin towns of Fishguard and Goodwick don't go without during the coronavirus pandemic.

Shane and Marie Marshall have set up Fishguard and Goodwick Food Support and deliver free parcels of surplus food on a regular basis to those who are vulnerable, elderly, in isolation or just generally in need.

He couple initially helped as volunteers at Fishguard and Goodwick Community Fridge which is a hub for surplus food redistribution.

When the fridge had to close in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic they signed up as mutual aid volunteers for their street, Parc y Cefyn.

"We found it so hard to find food in shops and lots of people were going without," said Marie.

"So we decided to contact some local companies and ask for surplus food."

The couple contacted Morrisons, who are producing extra food during this time to help food banks and community fridges; local organic milk cooperative, Calon Wen and Fishguard and Goodwick Community Fridge.

From there the Fishguard and Goodwick Food Support project was born ,with the couple collecting from Morrison's and Calon Wen on a weekly basis and delivering to local people.

"We give out bags to families now and at the moment it's currently 80 people," said Marie.

"Vulnerable people, elderly, people in isolation and just generally people in need

"We have had such a wonderful response and received lots of cards and painting and flowers We took a bundle of hand drawn cards from children to Morrisons last week to thank them."
