A MAN found driving under the influence of cannabis and in possession of both cannabis, Psilocin and Acetyl psilocin liquid in Newport must pay £319 and has lost his driving licence.

Alexander Thomas Harper-Nunes appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on April 20. He admitted driving his Chevrolet on the Ffordd Bedd Morris Road, Newport, on August 29 last year, with an illegal quantity of Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol, a cannabis by product, in his blood.

For this he was fined £120 and disqualified from driving for one year.

Harper-Nunes, 36, of Bartley Street, Bedminster, Bristol also indicated a plea of guilty to possessing 12.3 grammes of cannabis on the same date and to possessing 3.20ml of Psilocin and Acetyl psilocin liquid, a Class A controlled drug.

He was fined £80 for the cannabis charge and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £34 victim surcharge. No separate penalty was imposed for the second offence.

Magistrates took Harper-Nunes' guilty plea into account when imposing their penalty.

A destruction order for the cannabis and the Psilocin and Acetyl psilocin.
