Championship: Pontypool 55-8 Narberth

PONTYPOOL'S dominance in the Championship division continued as after a tight first half with Narberth, they ran in 38 unanswered points to emphatically end the unbeaten run of The Otters.

The home side took control early as captain Rob Nash touched down from a driving lineout, and player-coach Matthew Jones converted before landing a penalty.

Narberth responded via a try from flanker Andrew Cooke, but Pontypool winger Lloyd Lewis then evaded two would be tacklers to score and Jones again added the xtras.

A Ianto Griffiths penalty brought it back to 17-8 before the break, but the second half was one way traffic.

There further home tries by winger Jordan Thomas, flanker Nash and Lewis again, full back Geraint Walsh and centre Clayton Gullis. Former regional player Jones added three more conversions and there was one from centre Kieran Meek.

The second half display would have disappointed The Otters, and Sean Gale and his coaches will want a real response at home to eighth-placed Maesteg Quins at the Lewis Lloyd Ground on Saturday.
