West Wales Cup Round 2: Penlan Club 0-1 Merlins Bridge
A late goal from Joe Leahy have Merlins Bridge a fantastic win against 2016/17 finalists Penlan Club.
It was a rock solid away display from Matthew D'Ivry's side, and the player manager was part of a back four including Andrew John, Richard Hughes, and Jordan Thomas who performed superbly as a unit.
In tough conditions, The Wizards thought they had taken the lead 72 minutes in after a run down the wing by D'Ivry, who squared for Nathan Greene - but the striker was flagged offside as he blasted a shot home.
However only three minutes later Adam Hawkins chased down a long ball, and then crossed for Leahy who scored from close range.
Greene went close to a second but despite late pressure, the away side held on to book their place in the next round.
Merlins Bridge: Gary Thomas, Matthew D’Ivry, Richard Hughes, Jordan Thomas, Andrew John, Adam Hawkins, Peter Thomas, Ashley Beck, Laurie Haworth, Joe Leahy, Nathan Greene. Subs: Nathan Thomas, Simon Thomas, Will Haworth, Gethin Roberts, Josh Thomas.
