The inclusive sporting policy of Pembrokeshire College has certainly paid off in 2018 - with three students involved in the recent Sport Pembrokeshire Sports awards.

The trio have all played a valuable role across the county in promoting inclusion in sport.

Ryan Foot was the recipient of the Disability Sport Award Ryan was selected for Welsh Deaf Rugby last year and toured Australia. He was part of the squad that won the Deaf 7s World Championships and was also capped at 15-a-side level. Ryan, who has been an active sporting influence over the last couple of years and disability role model, continues to aid in voluntary community work having whelped the WRU promote inclusion rugby - as well as being a Platinum ambassador for Sport Pembrokeshire. Closer to home Ryan is an ambassador for Fishguard and Goodwick RFC, where he coaches and referees junior age groups. A former pupil of Ysgol Bro Gwaun, he is now in Pembrokeshire College studying sport.

Another representative of the College was Nicola Hayton, who received the Contribution to School Sport Award. Nicola is a proactive coach in inclusive sports and at former school Sir Thomas Picton, in which she lead the School Inclusive Zone Basketball team to success as well as being a Platinum ambassador for Sport Pembrokeshire. She has taken a role in promoting Wheelchair rugby and coaches the Scarlets and the Pembrokeshire Hurricanes, a Wheelchair Team out of Pembrokeshire College.

Finally, the College has another Platinum ambassador and voluntary coach in Katie Bowie-Hallam. Katie is involved in a number of inclusion activities and is assistant head coach at Pembrokeshire Special Needs Gymnastic Club based in Milford Haven, as well helping in primary schools and in GOGA multi-sports sessions. Qualified in a number of sports, Katie is part of a National Steering group within Sports Wales and now a Youth ambassador for Special Olympics Wales. A level 1 referee and rugby leader, she has also offered to help run inclusion sessions with the college.

A spokesman for the College said: "We and the county are supremely lucky to have these young ambassadors at the forefront of inclusion sport, for which we hope they continue to do a fantastic job in the future."
