Manderwood Pembrokeshire League Division Two: Fishguard Sports 3-2 Merlins Bridge 2nds

Niall Kinsella’s late free kick put Fishguard back top of Division Two as won an enthralling clash with Merlins Bridge 2nds.

A very competitive first half saw both sides battle hard in tough conditions - with the Tregroes pitch holding up well despite the weather.

The hosts nearly led 20 minutes in when Matt Harries crossed for Danny Hopkin but he fired over from six yards.

Moments late Bridge striker Ben Davies went through and rounded Dean Hopson - only for Anthony Couzens to make a goal saving tackle.

Bridge kept pushing and were rewarded as from a freekick into the box Simon Morgan headed in to make it 1-0 at half time.

But Fishguard came out firing after the break and within three minutes of the restart, had turned things around.

A Kinsella corner was headed in by Lewis Banks and then after Harries forced a good save out of away keeper James Skudder, Steve Lewis turned in the rebound.

Jac Pepper and Harries both went close to adding a third but it was Bridge who scored next after the lively Ben Davies went through and buried a shot into the bottom corner.

Then with 25 minutes left Hopkin was fouled 20 yards out and Kinsella drilled in the resultant free kick. Bridge then pressed for an equaliser but the Fishguard back four held firm.
