Manderwood Pembrokeshire League Division 1: Monkton Swifts 6-1 Clarbeston Road

Monkton Swifts returned to the top of the table after this six-goal demolition against Clarbeston Road at Monkton Lane.

Swifts’ manager Joe Lewis still isn’t getting carried away as he told Telegraph Sport: “We played well today, and I’m just taking one game at a time.

“If we stay focused and get the right results then just maybe there might be a bit of silverware. But I’m not getting distracted by that. All I want is my team to do their best every week.”

The Swifts opened the scoring in the fifth minute, Chris Richards drilling a low drive into the bottom corner.

Ten minutes later and Jimmy Russell pounced from close range and the striker also struck the third on the 30 minute mark.

But before the interval Ben John headed home a corner to give Clarbie Road a glimmer of hope as they trailed 3-1 at half time.

In the 55th minute Jake Seaton headed in the fourth, then the Swifts’ veterans got in on the scoring act. Defender Ben Nicholas struck an unstoppable shot that flew into the roof of the net for goal number five.

In the 85th minute Daniel Scourfield drilled in the sixth from the edge of the box, as the Swifts replaced Goodwick at the top of the table.
