Whitland go for five in a row at Aberystwyth

WRU Championship:

Narberth v Trebanos

Narberth took full advantage of everyone else not playing last week to hammer Rhydyfelin 41-0. And what would have pleased Sean Gale and his coaches ever more was they had to come through a physical test early on before cutting loose.

They are now a point off second placed Ystrad Rhondda with a game in hand, and had the measure of Trebanos away (just) in a 28-23 win in October. The latter now lie sixth and it's four weeks since they played in the league.

So The Otters will eye another win. There are four changes to the starting XV this week, wing wingers Will Lewis and Nick Gale in for Yannic Parker and Jack Price - while Dan Jacobs and Tom Slater come into the front row.

No9 Lewys Gibby is rewarded for his two tries last week with another start.

Division One West:

Aberystwyth v Whitland

The Borderers have the bit between their teeth at the moment and their 47-20 win in Gorseinon on Friday was their fourth on the bounce.

They edged past Aber 25-22 at home and Gareth Bennett and Dan Mason will expect another close fight here, but their side travel with renewed confidence.

There is a reshuffle with Dan Evans switiching to full back with James Stephenson unavailable, and starts for Scott Candler and Geraint Jones on the wing. Veteran Dai Ebsworth returns in the second row and the in-form Scott Buirds switches from No 8 to flanker, with Jack Mason back in the XV after coming off the bench to score in Swansea.

With Gino Setaro missing, backline cover is provided by Scott Lloyd on the bench.

Dunvant v Crymych

Crymych were also flying before a postponed game and the Six Nations checked their momentum - but they still come into this in fourth with second place firmly in their sights.

Their pack has been in formidable form and Gethin Gibby's return from his 7s ventures with the Ponty Butchers has added further edge to their backline. 

Dunvant haven't played since a 36-0 defeat to Felinfoel on January 26th but only lost 20-18 to the Preseli Men away, so Randal Williams will know his side can ill afford to be below par.

If they travel at full strength, they'll start favourites though.

Tenby United v Felinfoel

It's top v bottom at Heywood Lane, and this is a stern test for a young Tenby side.

They lost to the same side 41-3 away and The Foel are almost certain to win the title. Michael King has harboured a strong squad and they lie 15 points clear of second placed Gowerton.

At least The Seasiders go in with nothing to lose though. 

There is a lot of changes with eight of the youngsters boys to have played in recent weeks back with the youth side for their Welsh Plate game. Rob Luly, Roy Osborn, Aaron James and Jason Ronowitz are also all unavailable.

But Jordan Asparassa returns after a month in Thailand and Tom Barrass stays in the second row, having made a big impact there since switching from hooker.

A familiar club stalwart in Nicky Guymer is also back on the bench.

Division Two West:

Burry Port v St Clears

It's just not happening for St Clears. 6-0 up at half time against Loughor last week, they eventually went down 17-6 and lost out on a losing bonus point thanks to a last minute try.

They were on top at times as second row Daf Walters stood out but didn't turn pressure into points, and getting out the bottom two now looks a very sizeable task.

Burry Port beat Pontarddulais 36-5 last week and this now seems a tough trip for the Carmarthenshire Saints - but they have ample motivation. With bottom club Tumble at home their next game after this, getting a result in Llanelli will open up the prospect of back to back wins.

That would give them a glimmer of hope.

Fishguard v Carmarthen Athletic

The last two games have been refreshing for Fishguard - they've turned tight matches into wins.

They weren't doing that at the start of the season but are now up to seventh and famous last words, seem safe from relegation.

In fact a top half finish is not beyond them. They don't have Geraint Jones available from Whitland this week but Andrew Williams switches to No 10. Player-coach Simon James comes into the second row with Luke Freebury moving back.

Gavin Walsh also returns at hooker after injury.

The Seagulls let themselves down in Athletic to lose 36-7 so have some making up to do here. Captain Chris Shousha and co won't want to let recent momentum slip.

Pontarddulais v Pembroke

There is no point saying this is a big game for Pembroke. Given their second place position now, everyone is from here.

In that respect their experience of last season, where they faced a run of must win games in both the Bowl and the League, may help them.

They beat Tycroes 31-19 last time out and although are away tomorrow, comfortably overcame Pontarddulais 32-13 at home earlier in the campaign.

No 10 Toby Smith has been orchestrating matters for them superbly of late but Geraint Lewis and Kyle Davies now have a big squad performing well. There will be selection headaches here, but nice ones.

After this it's a home game with third placed Pontyberem. At the very least, the 'Big Red Bus' must roll into that on the back of a four point win.

Division Three West A:

Aberaeron v Laugharne

Aberaeron took advantage of Milford not playing to reduce the deficit by five points last week with a 55-0 win over Llangwm.

But this will be harder. Centre Ollie Sawyer was one to impress against The Wasps with two tries but they will be made to battle harder for a platform tomorrow.

On their day Laugharne can match any side in the league but seem to lack the consistency threaten promotion. But they too can play out wide and centre Tom Jameson ran in a hat trick in their last game at Pembroke Dock, which they won 38-0.

No 8 Mikey Williams has also scored a glut of tries last two seasons and Aber will have to be at their bets here. Especially as the reality is they need a bonus point win.

Cardigan v Llangwm

After going to Aberaeron last week Llangwm could probably have done without another long trip but with a depleted side, they did battle hard for 40 minutes before being overrun.

But they gave Cardigan a game at home before going down 34-14, and will make The Teifisiders work hard if they travel strong.

Cardigan have not played since beating Llanybydder 21-20 on January 19th but with Milford away to follow this one, Colin Davies will know his side have to get straight back to their best. He'll want a convincing display Saturday.

Marcus Castle skippers them in the absence of John Lumb.

Llanybydder v Milford Haven

It's never good to see a side fail to play a fixture, and Llanybydder not going to Milford last week didn't reflect well. 

But if nothing else, it gives them motivation to perform Saturday. They owe their club one.

It may have inadvertently helped The Mariners given they've had a physical few weeks, but they did have their lead over Aberaeron reduced. 

They must blank out any frustration tomorrow though and focus on the task in hand. Coaches Nathan Williams, Steve Martin and Andy Williams have been adamant about taking things one game at a time and that is the right approach. 

Dewi Williams is again on permit with Narberth which is a blow but vice captain Adam Rees is set to return in the front row.

Milford don't have to chase try bonus points, but continuing winning momentum is vital.

Neyland v Haverfordwest

These two sides also return from a fortnight off for a game that could really go either way.

It was The Blues who prevailed 23-12 when they met before Christmas, and currently lie second and just a point above their hosts tomorrow.

They have players back after a string of injuries but I'd expect Neyland to come out champing at the bit. That big defeat in Milford last time out would have hurt them and Graham Richards and Steve Evans shouldn't have to give much of a team talk.

For once, the weather has held up this week and both sides boast good runners in the backline. We could have a close, but entertaining 80 minutes.

Tregaron v St Davids

The Saints took advantage of a free week to win 28-21 against Cardiff Harlequins last week, with prop Dan Murphy scoring two tries. It was only a friendly, but a desperately needed win regardless.

Anthony Davies must take a full side that are prepared to dig in here. Tregaron have improved since the start of the season but like St Davids, have only won once in the league.

I don't see much of a spectacle coming but with a rare victory at stake for both, it could be a very close dogfight.
