Junior Union Cup match: Whitland 2nds 21-43 Tenby United 2nds

There was a glimpse of the future at Parc Llywn Ty Gwyn last night as Tenby United's young side beat a Whitland team that also contained a number of youth players.

The teams produced 10 tries in all, with the Seasiders scoring six of them en route to a 43-21 win.

The second team cup has group stages before knockout rounds this season, with Whitland, Tenby, and Crymych in one pool and Milford, Pembroke, and Haverfordwest in another.

And it was the Borderers and Seasiders who kicked it off last night, and the home side led 14-12 at the break thanks to two tries by Osian Lewis, both converted by Jonathan Thomas.

They did add a third score after the break from Ben Perkins, again goaled by Thomas, but by that point Tenby had fought back strongly and finished up with tries for Joe Owen (3), Andrew Cooke, Ben Pugh, and a penalty try.

Youth team No 10 Harry Rossiter added four conversions and a penalty - and the man of the match also had game time alongside dad and youth team coach Richard, himself a pivotal player for the club over the years.

Tonight, the competition continues as Milford play Pembroke.
