Manderwood Pembrokeshire League Division 1: Milford United 2-1 Saundersfoot Sports

Milford United fought back to beat Saundersfoot Sports on Saturday and move nine points clear of Herbrandston in the battle to stay up.

And this despite a poor first few minutes from The Robins, who had Andrew Burgoyne in charge in the absence of Adrian Hutchings.

Cory Hill gave the away side the lead as he struck a powerful 25 yard free kick which beat home keeper Jack Nicholas after an awkward bounce.

It could have been 2-0 down just minutes later as Geoff Marsh fired wide, but Milford then settled down.

Garin Gardner and Ashley Mathias were both prominent in getting on the ball and the home side got level on the half hour mark after Harry Nicholas and Gardner set Liam Parr away on the left hand side, and he surged into the box and squared for Lewys Tee to score at the back post.

Tee then forced a top save out of Saundersfoot goalkeeper Sam Franklin as the sides went in level at the break.

Saundersfoot pressed on in the second half and forced some smart saves out of Nicholas.

But as the game grew Milford became more dangerous on the counter and  got the winner in the 80th minute through front man Parr.

Morgan Picton’s fierce shot struck the bar and Parr was there to pounce and head home.

The game ended with Saundersfoot midfielder Nick Cope rbein sent off by referee Gareth Elliot as the home side held on to a crucial win.
