Manderwood Pembrokeshire League Division 2: Johnston 4-1 Lawrenny

Conditions were torrential - but the game went ahead at Hillcroft as Johnston boosted their promotion bid with a win over Lawrenny.

In one of only two Division Two matches to be played, goals from Scott Crawford (2) Joe John, and Jake Smith kept The Tigers in fourth place while Tom Cole struck for the visitors.

The game was brought forward to a 1pm kick off and in truth, that probably saved it from being called off as rain teemed down shortly after kick off.

And it was Crawford who put his side ahead when he tapped in from a Joey George cross.

Soon it was 2-0 as Jake Smith volleyed goalwards from the edge of the area and Joe John was on hand to flick the ball past Lawrenny keeper Danny Harries.

It was Smith himself who then added a third, going clean through and rounding Harries to score.

But Lawrenny pulled one back before the break as Matty Lewis played in Tom Cole, and he skipped past veteran Johnston keeper Jim Payne and made no mistake.

The second half was scrappy as conditions worsened, and it took a super save from Harries to deny Smith.

But the latter was involved again when Johnston did make it four, cutting the ball back to Crawford to finish clinically with a low shot from 18 yards.
