Pembrokeshire rugby fixtures for Saturday, March 23rd:

WRU Championship:

Narberth v Ystrad Rhondda

No time for Narberth to dwell on three weeks of inactivity - this is a big game.

It's fourth v second and despite that defeat to Cardiff Met last time out, where The Otters paid the price for a nightmare first half, a win here will see them well placed for another top two finish.

Sean Gale and coaches have named a new look back row in Dewi Williams, Kyle Hamer, and Tenby's Roy Osborn. And there is also a return to action for Callum Tree, who will play his first game for almost two seasons for The Otters after a spell living in Canada.

Ianto Griffiths is also back at full back with Nick Gale switching to the wing.

Narberth: Ianto Griffiths, Nick Gale, Kieran Jones, Jack Price, Gethin Gibby, Jonathan Rogers, Rhys Lane, Daniel Jacobs, Rhodri Owens, Tom Kaijaks, Alex Jenkins (capt), Callum Tree, Dewi Williams, Kyle Hamer, Roy Osborn. Replacements: Bradley Davies, Dan Smith, Llew Jones, Lewys Gibby, Jake Jenkins.

Division One West:

Dunvant v Tenby United

Finishing the season without a league win is now a distinct possibility for Tenby - but they are doing the right thing by focusing on building for next season rather than stats.

They also pushed Dunvant at Heywood Lane before going down 20-13 so can compete here although the hosts were in good form before the break - beating Crymych and Gorseinon.

The Seasiders are much changed though. A number of their younger players are tied up in the Youth team's Bowl semi final against Gowerton, and Shane Rossiter, Aaron James, Jack Tucker, Ashley Murdoch and Connor Ennis are injured. As mentioned, Roy Osborn is with Narberth.

Jason Ronowitz captains the side.

Tenby United: Jordan Asparassa, Greg Griffiths, Billy Truman, Moritz Neumann, Mark Hamilton, Lloyd Thomas, Dan Thomas, Ethan Morgan, Dan Allen, Rob Luly Huw Evans, Tom Barrass, Gwilym Owens, Jason Ronowitz (capt), Jack Broadhurst. Replcements: Nicky Guymer, Ryan Jones, Jack Davies, Nathan Owen, Lloyd Davies.

Gorseinon v Crymych

Given Gorseinon hammered leaders Felinfoel in a recent midweek game, this suddenly looks very tricky for Crymych.

The Preseli Men did beat the Swansea side 23-3 in December and and ground out a 10-0 win over Llanelli Wanderers last time out - with try scorers Osian and Guto Davies both outstanding.

Crymych are sixth but still only three points off second placed Llangennech so Randall Williams' side have plenty to play for - and another big away display.

Kidwelly v Whitland

A banana skin game for The Borderers. They had to battle past Kidwelly to win 18-10 at home and despite lying second bottom, the home side go in with their tails up after winning 31-22 at Tenby last time out.

But Whitland had that fantastic 24-14 success against Felinfoel before the break and Gareth Bennett and Dan Mason won't want that to go to waste.

James Stephenson is back at 15 for the Borderers while Jonathan Thomas returns from football with St Clears to play on the wing.

There are also changes in the pack from that win over Foel, with Ben Kirk, Jamie Thomas and Raff Ebsworth back in place Dai Ebsworth, Ryan Morgan, and Jack Mason.

Whitland: James Stephenson, Scott Lloyd, Gino Setaro, Josh Thomas, Jonathan Thomas, Nico Setaro, Adam Davies, Aaron Mayne, Marc Jones, Jimmy Buirds, Raff Williams, Courtney Bowman, Ben Kirk, Jamie Thomas, Scott Buirds. Replacements: Josh Thomas, Tom Finucane, Ryan Morgan, S Meakins, Jack Mason.

Division Two West:

Fishguard v Tycroes

After losing to Carmarthen Athletic and Penclawdd the three week break maybe came at a good time for Fishguard.

But it's another tough one tomorrow against Tycroes, who beat the Seagulls 29-14 first time around and now lie fourth.

However the home side are now clear of relegation danger and can have a go with little pressure on them. Again their line up mixes youth and experience  - with Geraint Jones again at 10 on permit from Whitland and Kial Keane lining up at 12.

Up front coach Simon James starts at 8 as part of a strong looking back row with skipper Chris Shousha and Lewis Davies.

Fishguard: Robbie Jones, Rhys Evans, Thomas George, Kial Keane, Ed Bendall, Geraint Jones, Andrew Williams, Ryan McVeigh, Gavin Walsh, Tomos Evans, Ben John, Luke Freebury, Lewis Davies, Chris Shousha (capt), Simon James. Replacements: Liam Wilkes, Jordan James, Richard Hunter, Mark George, Osian Lewis.

Mumbles v Pembroke

Another week, another big one for Pembroke.

Revenge may be on their minds after they were surprisingly beaten by the Swansea side 24-17 at home, leaving the home side questioning some big refereeing decisions.

But their primary focus will be promotion and this is must win after Pontyberem ended their eight match winning run last time out. The Scarlets are now second, sandwiched between The Bont and leaders Penclawdd, and can ill afford to slip up.

No 10 Toby Smith has controlled matters well for them home and away this season and much has been made of their squad depth - so coaches Geraint Lewis and Kyle Davies have some big calls to make tomorrow.

Pontarddulais v St Clears

St Clears have a glimmer of hope after beating Tumble 22-7, but one win isn't enough. They must now back it up at sixth placed Pontardullais and hope Mumbles get nothing against Pembroke.

Prop Andrew 'chunk' Howells was their hero with two tries in the last game and skipper Adam Phillips kicked well at goal - and coach Tim Poole will demand a big collective display here.

And if the Carmarthenshire Saints produce one, then maybe....

Division Three West A:

Cardigan v Haverfordwest

One of those where who responds best to a period of inactivity will probably win it.

Haverfordwest have not played since a narrow win in Neyland on February 16th, while Cardigan lost 17-3 in torrential weather to Milford on March 2nd.

It was a tight one when they met at Merlins Bridge with the Blues prevailing 17-10 and if it's close again tomorrow, the goal kicking of Emyr Harries and Craig Barnett could be crucial.

Cardigan have named their side, with the influential John Lumb switing from full back to centre. Tom Taylor continues as captain.

Cardigan: Llyr Jones, Cerith Griffiths, John Lumb, Marcus Castle, Rhydian Jenkins, Iwan John, Gwern Phillips, William Brice, Luke Palmer-Davies, Andrew Fletcher, Sion Phillips, Dyfed Symmons, Tom Taylor (capt), Sion Hughes, Colin Davies. Replacements: Bedwyr Davies, Elliot Dry, Gruffydd Lewis, Ifan Morgan, Toby Neilson-Dry.

Llangwm v Pembroke Dock Quins

Llangwm will see this as a big chance - it has been a long time since they racked up four wins in a season.

But in their last three league games only Josh Hicks has crossed for tries and while he will again be prominent tomorrow, they can't be overly reliant on the No 8.

As so often, how the Quins perform will depend on availability but you would have thought Neil Machin's players would be up for a potential winnable game.

The Wasps won the reverse game 22-5 at Bierspool so will be favourites, and with a lot at stake this should be hard fought.

Llanybydder v St Davids

It has been a strange period for Llanybydder - twice unable to fulfill away fixtures with a great win over leaders Milford Haven inbetween.

There will be few problems with availability tomorrow mind against a St Davids team that has struggled badly on the road.

The Bydder won 52-3 when the sides met in December and Anthony Davies will know his side must dig in to avoid another difficult day here.

Neyland v Laugharne

It was a heck of a battle when these sides met in Laugharne - with The Cocklemen fighting back late on to win 22-10.

Mark 'Russell' James stepped in at prop that day and while he shouldn't have to do that tomorrow, the All Blacks do need players back after being down to the bare bones in recent times.

George Evans starred in their last game though, scoring four tries in a 66-0 win over St Davids and whether it's him or Dillen McGaffin at No 10 tomorrow - it will be an interesting battle with Laugharne outside half Owain Thomas.

Also, Laugharne trail Neyland by eight points with three games in hand, so this could be important in deciding who finishes higher up the table.

Tregaron v Aberaeron

Back to league action for Aberaeron after going out the Bowl, and it's one of their shorter away trips.

And one they must win - five points will leave them eight behind Milford with a game in hand, and they still have to host the Mariners.

Tregaron can be a tough nut to crack though when at their best and No 10 Huw Bonner dictates play well, so this will be no walkover for the visitors.
