DRAGONS duo George Gasson and Joe Goodchild have been named in Wales' squad for the famous Hong Kong Sevens next weekend.

The wingers have been selected in the group that will take part in the prestigious leg of the World Rugby Sevens Series that starts on Friday plus the Singapore leg the following weekend.

Gasson, 22, and Goodchild, 20, have both scored two tries since becoming Wales regulars this season.

However, there is disappointment for Pontypool playmaker Ethan Davies, who made his return from injury in Las Vegas and Vancouver but has suffered another blow.

"It's very unfortunate that Ethan misses out, because you could see his experience shining through in Vancouver," said head coach Richie Pugh.

Wales made it to the Challenge Trophy semi-finals in Canada and face a tough group containing England, the USA and Spain.

They will tune-up for Hong Kong by locking horns with the national team, who are coached by Jevon Groves, the former Dragons and Cross Keys who captained Wales at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

Wales are currently languishing in 13th place in the standings and are below all three of their group rivals with the Americans leading the series, England in fifth and the Spanish sitting 11th.

However, Pugh hopes that his charges will rise to the occasion in Hong Kong.

"You can feed off the crowd, which the team did in Vancouver where the fans were excellent," he said.

"Hong Kong has a good history, it's one of the originals and the best, and once again the boys will be exposed to an environment that they can't get back home week to week.

"We're looking to build on our performances in Vancouver, and the intensity in training has been decent.

"It's still tough to replicate World Series levels on the training field, but the boys have pushed each other hard and produced a strong level of competition within the squad."
