Leanne Holder from Llanycefn is making a stand for females in motorsport and encouraging others to join her.

The 25-year-old is competing in the Pembrokeshire Karting Championship this season.

Having worked in motorsport preparing drivers for their races as a fitness and nutrition coach, she is finally getting herself on track to have fun and raise awareness.

“Females are starting to get recognition in motorsport but I only see this being talked about at elite levels, with big budgets and a level of experience from childhood.

"What about those, that like me, are 25 with no experience and want to take it up?

"Motorsport is for everyone, at any age, gender, or experience."

The Championship itself is being held at West Wales Karting in Haverfordwest across seven rounds.

“Organisers have ensured that the cost is low, the experience is inclusive and the there are top notch facilities," added Leanne.

West Wales Karting has recently undergone a refurbishment meaning a new reception area, changing area, briefing room, coffee bar, heated viewing area and balcony along with a brand-new track design.

Leanne believes that more females should give the Pembrokeshire Karting Championship a go also: “You don’t even need your own kit - you can wear their suits, gloves and helmets that are included in your entry!

"You don’t need your own kit - you can wear their suits, gloves and helmets and can even just try out one round to see if you like it."
