Division Two West: Fishguard and Goodwick 40-7 Loughor

Fishguard and Goodwick rounded off their season in style as they comprehensively beat Loughor - and moved up to fifth place in the process.

The Seagulls endured a difficult start to their campaign with some narrow defeats, but have grown as the season has gone on and coaches Nathan and Steve Jenkins, and Simon James, can be postive about the future with some young players coming through.

Influential captain Chris Shousha was to the fore again and fittingly, the home side ran in six quality tries as WRU chief executive Martyn Phillips looked on.

Fishguard looked to have scored early when No 8 James went over from a scrum five, only to be recalled by referee Jackey Boswell.

But there was no denying Fishguard from the next set-piece as an eight man shove allowed scrum half Andrew Williams to csnipe over before Jake Jenkins, playing on permit, landed the conversion.

Two further tries came from the power of James, the second goaled by Jenkins.

The Fishguard replacements also featured well after the break and Scott Richis crossed after a good break by centre Sion Rowlands, again converted by Jenkins, before winger Thomas George crossed and Jenkins was again on target.

The Seagulls were then awarded a penalty try and Loughor only managed a late consolation score when skipper Jonathan Phillips crossed and Liam Hedges converted – but it mattered little as the home side avenged their 32-31 los back on the opening day of the season.

And it set the platform for a good night afterwards, with the club holding an former players' reunion where some familiar faces returned to share stories!
