Manderwood Pembrokeshire League Division 2: Kilgetty 1-0 St Ishmaels

The race for the second promotion spot in Division Two swung the way of Kilgetty last night after a Josh Bevan goal was enough for them to get past St Ishmaels.

To help their cause, Hakin 2nds hammered Johnston 5-0. It means The Tigers are still fourth and two points clear of Kilgetty, but only have two games to play whilst Rob Beynon's team have four.

With Merlins Bridge 2nds and Hakin 2nds still occupying second and third, and unable to go up, fourth spot will be enough for promotion.

Both teams had chances in a scoreless first half but then after 55 minutes, a pin point cross from Henry Lawrence set up Bevan to shoot past Andrew Pawlett with a first time finish.

After that there was an accidental clash of heads between referee Dai Barker and Bevan - but thankfully both were able to continue following treatment.

Jordan Gorman also hit the post late on while Tish struck the bar themselves - as both sides battled to the end despite a hectic recent schedule.

But the home side held out ahead of a potentially huge finish to their season as they face all of the league's top four teams between now and April 29th.

At The Obs it was The Vikings who turned on the style to beat a tired looking Johnston team, with Gareth Fawcett returning to claim a hat trick while there were also goals for Bradley Barrett and James Williams.
