WRU Youth Bowl final: Tenby United Youth 23-24 Resolven Youth

Tenby United’s Youth players were involved in a memorable match at the Principality Stadium on Saturday but agonisingly lost out to Resolven by a single point.

The Seasiders took a large number of fans to Cardiff and they saw their side open up a 16-0 first half lead, but Resolven fought back admirably to lead 24-16 before holding off a late Tenby rally.

Coaches Richard Rossiter, Guto Griffiths and Leon Gooding would have been pleased with how their side started as No 10 Harry Rossiter nervelessly landed three penalties to make it 9-0.

And things got better when winger Oakley Milton intercepted a pass in midfield to speed more than 50 metres to the posts and Rossiter converted.

But the tide turned in the final stages of the half as the Neath Port Talbot team notched two tries through full back Dom Wood and centre Jack Keenan. No 10 Jack Evans converted both to cut the deficit to 16-14.

And they continued their momentum into the second half as Evans put them ahead with a penalty before adding the extras to a try from flanker Dillon Caulfield.

Back came Tenby though and with five minutes left hooker Matt Busby charged over for a try that Rossiter converted, but as they tried to push for another late score to win it, the Seasiders ran out of time.

Both sets of players were praised by organisers afterwards though, after kick starting finals day with an epic contest.
