Harrison Allen Bowl quarter final: Whitland (137-7) beat Narberth (84-8) by 53 runs

Whitland were good value for victory at home to neighbours Narberth as they batted sensibly to reach a 137-7, and the Division 2 side didn’t get close in their chase.

The Borderers’ total was actually boosted by five penalty runs awarded by the officials after Kyle Quartermaine was penalised for dissent during the Narberth reply.

Leading the way with the bat for Whitland was Nathan Evans with a rapid 41 that added vital impetus towards the end of their 22 overs after Wayne Howells (20), Jack Bowen (16) and 15 apiece from Matthew Davies and Jonathan Thomas had set the platform.

For Narberth, the key bowlers were Matthew Johns (2-29), Ben Hughes (2-30), Loui Davies (1-35) and Ben Quartermaine (1-36).

When they went in to bat Narberth lost regular wickets against Wayne Howells, who took a miserly 2-4 haul against his former side, home captain Matthew Davies (3-22) and spinner Greg Sleep (2-18).

Ben Hughes top scored for Narberth with a late 25 not out but no one else really got going for the visitors as Whitland returned to the semi final stage for the third time in five seasons.
