Under 11s Pembrokeshire Junior Cricket final: Hook 307-3 beat Kilgetty 279-4 by 28 runs

The top two sides from the north and south zones met in the final and hosts Hook were crowned Pembrokeshire champions.

Both teams came through the group stage with a 100% record - with Hook beating Llechryd in their semi final and Kilgetty beating Neyland.

Played in the usual pairs format, Hook won the toss and decided to bowl first.

They bowled extremely well with very few loose deliveries - although Kilgetty made steady progress with every pair of batsmen accumulating runs, both with boundaries and quick running between the wickets. This was a team effort reflected in the batsmen scores of Kiaran 11, Jamie 14, Dylan 12, Olly 10, Logan 13, and Madoc 10.

For Hook Dylan 1-5, William 1-21 and Oscar 1-11 and arun out took the wickets. Callum and Manny fielded well for Hook to support their bowlers.

In the Hook reply Dylan James got them off to a solid start by scoring 17.

The next Hook pair included Oscar Willington who scored 24 with some fine boundaries - and one six that cleared the spectators.

Captain Jamie Keating struck twice for Kilgetty though to leave things in the balance, with the other wicket taker for Kilgetty being Olly with 1-13.

The third pair of William and Dylan Goodridge made steady progress to take Hook to 268 with Arlo and Lewis fielding well for Kilgetty. This brought Jack and Rhys Phelps to the crease and they advanced the score to 282 with two overs to go.

Some strong  shots around the ground by Rhys (24) saw Kilgetty needing wickets from the last two overs. The batsmen defended these well and chose their shots wisely to see Hook run out winners of an excellent game of cricket.

The clash was enjoyed by a large supportive crowd who had an entertaining evening.

In the presentations Martin Jones (junior organiser) congratulated both sides on reaching the final and especially Hook for their victory. He Thanked Hook for hosting the final, with praise for Phil Griffiths, the groundsman and the club members who provided burgers and other refreshments for the players.

Also in attendance was County Chairman Paul Webb and his wife Janice, and PCCC President Nick Evans. Nick presented the runners up trophy to Kilgetty, sponsored by the Cricket Shop, and Paul the winning cup - sponsored by Colin and Angela John, of Llewelyn Davies & Co Chartered Accountants.
