With the course in splendid condition, 66 members and guests from other clubs enjoyed a highly competitive Texas Scramble at South Pembs Golf Club.
The event, sponsored by N.D Toy and Partners and Greens Motors was part of the continuing celebrations of the club’s 50th anniversary. There were a number of good scores recorded and the winning team were David Harris (Club President), Paul Grimwood and Simon Bourne. They were followed by father and son combination of Jim and Paul McGroary with Peter Bowling.
In the competition for the New2Golf section the winners were Mell John, Donna Grimwood and Melanie Phillips.
After playing their rounds the members enjoyed a convivial evening on the clubhouse terrace. The prizes were presented by the oldest surviving club member and one of its longest serving members John Dix, who attended with other notables from the club’s early days such as Ros Williams and Billy Harris. The evening concluded with a cutting of a celebratory cake created by the club’s new chef Shaun Inkpen.
