Pembrokeshire KO Cup Round 1: Crymych 33-0 Haverfordwest
Last season’s runners up Crymych got their bid to regain the KO Cup underway on Saturday as they ran in five tries against Haverfordwest.
With a two division gap between the teams, the Preseli Men went in clear favourites but the Blues had their moments and really tested the home side up front, while Matty Phillips, Craig Barnett and Gareth Owens all gave stand out performances.
But Crymych were simply too clinical and led early on through prop Rhys Richards – and they added further tries before the break from centre Ilan Phillips and winger Laurence Headlam. No 10 Ifan Phillips added two conversions to make it 19-0.
It was the two Phillips boys, Ilan and Ifan, who then crossed in the second half and the latter added the extras to both to secure a 33-0 win.
Crymych join Pembroke in the last eight, with the remaining four first round ties to take place this coming weekend.
