Division 4: St Ishmaels 2nds (303-2) beat Burton II (159 all out)

A SUPER century from Karl Rhead ensured Tish 2nds became Division 4 champions on Saturday as they hammered Burton 2nds.

Robbie Thomas’ team only needed a draw to secure the silverware, and realistically they were champions by tea after hammering 303-2 in 40 overs, with Rhead having retired on 175.

The opener hit 21 fours and nine sixes after losing partner Darren Hawkins (5) early, and although he was eventually forced offx No 3 Danny Flynn (seven fours in his 46) and Stuart Carpenter also scored rapidly, the latter finishing 66 not out with 54 of those runs coming in boundaries.

Steve Jones (1-33) and Louis Murphy (1-31) took the wickets.

Burton actually scored at a very quick rate themselves but were shot out for 159 in 25 overs.

Opener Will Ridge made 20 but it was namesake Dan who came in No 4 and top scored with 50, including five sixes and two fours.

Robert Griffiths also cracked seven fours in his 34 - but Maddison Howard and Kevin Bowen made sure wickets fell regularly with figures of 4-33 and 3-41 respectively, while Ieuan Hawkins (1-59) and Stuart Carpenter (2-13) helped finish the job.
