Division 1: Neyland 2-6 Hakin United

Hakin were missing some key players due to Scott Reid's wedding but it made little difference as they won well at Neyland.

It meant a winning start to life as first team manager for Scott Davies, ahead of an early acid test against Merlins Bridge this coming Saturday.

Hakin went ahead after 15 minutes, after good work from the returning Adam John and Camron Thomas resulted in a Nick Koomen own goal.

The visitors added a second on the 30-minute mark, as Leon Luby’s excellent free-kick into the box was met by Shane Walsh and his header went in off home keeper Jake Payne.

Apart from that the youngster impressed in goal though and was powerless after the break when Ryan Wilson finished off a five-man move, burying a low shot in the bottom corner.

On the hour mark The Nomads got back into it though as Patrick Bellerby’s far post header beat new Hakin keeper Martin Langdon.
The hope was short lived however, as Adam John struck the Vikings’ fourth, then Walsh was on target again to make it 5-1.

Bellerby again showed what a useful addition he could be to Neyland this season as he placed home a shot from 12 yards - but it was The Vikings who had the final word when Wilson struck goal number six.

It will now be all eyes on The Obs Saturday when The Wizards visit, while Neyland have a tricky trip to Clarbie Road.
