Monkton Swifts 3

Ten-man Monkton Swifts came away from Saundersfoot Sports with a workmanlike display to pick up their third win on the trot as they sit pretty three points clear at top of table.

Swifts manager Joe Lewis knew his side had not played at their best but more importantly they won and secured the points.

The Swifts took the lead on 30 minutes, a route one ball saw Chris Richards get the final scoring touch.

Monkton were reduced to ten-men when Rhodri Davies was sent off. The visitors had to wait until the hour mark before they added their second of the game. The Sports defence failed to clear at a corner and Daniel Scourfield struck the rebound into the roof of Sam Franklin’s net.

Ten minutes later and the Swifts were awarded a penalty for a handball inside the box, Dylan Davies fired home hard and low to Franklin’s right.

In the 84th minute The Sports grabbed a consolation goal through Chris Millward, Swifts keeper Stuart James parried a shot and the striker headed home at the second attempt.
