Division 1: Goodwick United 1-4 Carew

A superb second-half display earned Carew a thoroughly deserved victory against Goodwick United at Phoenix Park, writes Gordon Thomas.

The Rooks had lost their previous two league games against Hakin and Narberth, so it was important they won this clash - and they did it in style to inflict a first defeat of the campaign for Goodwick.

After a goalless first 45 minutes, at one point it looked as if one goal would sneak it.

However, Rob Scourfield’s Rooks bagged two goals in as many minutes on the hour mark.

Firstly, Jordan Richards drilled in from 15 yards and then Scott Ferney finished clinically from ten yards to stun the hosts.

On the 70-minute mark Sam Christopher slotted home from 15 yards for the third and then Fraser Findlay grabbed the goal for the game for the fourth, the youngster cut in from the wing and unleashed an unstoppable shot which flew in the top corner.

The hosts grabbed a late consolation through Jordan Griffiths, butGoodwick United player manager Wayne O’Sullivan confessed after the final whistle his team were well beaten on the day.
