West Wales Cup Round 2: Hakin United 5-0 Carmarthen Stars

Hakin manager Scott Davies was pleasantly surprised with the ease at which his side went through in the West Wales Cup as they hammered the Carmarthen Stars.

They turned a 2-0 half time lead into an eventual five goal win, and in truth Hakin keeper Martin Langdon didn’t have a meaningful save to make.

It was Adam John who starred with a brace of goals, one of which a stunner from long range, to help seal the win against a side going well in the Carmarthenshire Premier League.

The hosts opened the scoring early when Leon Luby made ground down the right and he crossed for Nicky Woodrow - who finished clinically to open the scoring.

Five minutes later and Ashley Bevan put The Vikings in control with a powerful finish.

The home side went for the jugular after the break and the Stars had no answer to the intensity.

John scored the third on the hour mark with a neat finish and then provided the moment of the game - picking the ball up 30 yards out and unleashing a rocket of a shot that left the away keeper with no chance.

Luby completed the rout with his first ever league goal for Hakin, drilling in a low shot.

It sets Hakin up nicely for a crunch game in Division 1 this Saturday when they play fellow title hopefuls Goodwick United at Phoenix Park.

Hakin United squad: Martin Langdon, Leon Luby, Garin Gardner, Ewan Findlay, Cameron Thomas, Adam John, Jay Power, Ryan Wilson, Shane Walsh, Ashley Bevan, Jonathan Fawcett, Nicky Woodrow, Jaden Chapman, Tom Evans, Leigh Broome, Ben Aldred.
