Division 1: Clarbeston Road 5-2 Carew

Matthew Ellis bagged a second half brace as Clarby Road saw off Carew at Knock Playing Field.

It was The Rooks who struck first when Jordan Richards curled in a superb free kick from 25 yards.

At the other end Ben John twice fired over for Clarby but on the brink of half time, Sam Christopher nearly doubled the lead but couldn’t connect properly at the near post.

Early in the second half the home side levelled as Ellis nodded in a Joules Ward corner, and the player-manager then gave his side the lead in style. From another cross into the box Carew keeper Tom Davies punched clear – but only as far as Ellis who volleyed back past him into the net.

The third goal came from a strong header upfield from Dan Rees and Richard Bevan latched onto the loose ball and toed it past Davies to score.

Charlie George then headed in at the back post to make it 4-1, before Carew got one back when Fraser Findlay made ground down to right and his low cross was turned in by Christopher.

But with time running out, it was John who sealed the points with a neat finish as Clarby moved level on points with their visitors.
