Swansea City 1

Blackburn Rover 1

Steve Cooper was bitterly disappointed that Swansea City could not turn in what was described as positive display against Blackburn Rovers into a victory at the Liberty Stadium.

After getting thumped 5-1 at West Bromwich Albion on Sunday, it didn’t start well for the Swans who found themselves 1-0 down with barely three minutes gone as former old boy Danny Graham swept home from inside the box.

Cooper’s outfit levelled matters just six minutes later when Andre Ayew headed home from a corner.

In the second half Swans’ midfielder Tom Carroll was controversially sent off by referee Jeremy Simpson shortly after the break, at that stage it looked as if the numerical difference would hand the points to Tony Mowbray’s Rovers outfit, but they didn’t they failed to take advantage as Bradley Dack joined Carroll down the tunnel.

Cooper was adamant his side should have been awarded a penalty when Sam Surridge tangled with Tosin Adrarabioyo.

The Swans rued missed chances on a night where they should have picked up an elusive victory at the Liberty – but unfortunately for Cooper on the night it wasn’t meant to be.

This draw sees the Swans three points adrift the play-off places on 31 points and Rovers are in tenth with the same points, both sides share the same goal difference.

Steve Cooper, Swansea City manager:

“It’s still not a win at home and we really wanted that. You could see the intention of how we started the game in the ascendancy.

“I just think when you go 1-0 down in the manner we did, after Sunday, I think it can be a defining moment going forward.

“To see a positive reaction, a positive performance and – while we cannot be completely happy as we have not won – if you take the game for what it was, there were positives.”

Tony Mowbray, Blackburn Rovers boss:

"When they went down to 10-men I felt we would go on and win it, but Dack was sent off and that levelled matters.

It's a bit of a mystery why their home record has not been as good as they would have wanted.

"Dack's second yellow is embarrassing. He just stuck his backside into the lad.

"It felt like it was just evening things up a little bit - he (referee Simpson) wasn't sure he'd got the first sending off right."
