Division 1: Carew 2-1 Merlins Bridge
Jack Christopher’s second half header earned Carew a slender victory over ten-man Merlins Bridge in a feisty affair.
The Rooks took the lead in the sixth minute when Fraser Findlay struck a sweet volley which crashed into the back of the net, giving his side a perfect start.
Both sides put in some heavy challenges as referee Angus Scourfield had his work cut out keeping calm on the pitch.
Joe Leahy levelled matters in the 33rd minute, the striker headed home at the far post from a corner.
It stayed at 1-1 at the interval with everything to play for the second 45 minutes.
Again, The Rooks got off to a flyer when they took the lead two minutes after the interval. Scorer Findlay assisted with an inch perfect cross and the returning Christopher used the pace of the ball to guide his inch perfect header past James Dickson.
There was no further scoring in the second period, but the Wizards were reduced to ten-men when veteran defender Chris Ormond received a straight red card from Scourfield.
