Division 1: Monkton Swifts 3-1 Fishguard Sports
An excellent second half display ensured champions Monkton Swifts overcame a spirited Fishguard Sports outfit at a wet and windy Monkton Lane.
This was the champions’ ninth win of the season and Joe Lewis’ Swifts are still three points ahead of the pack.
In a tight first half there were no goals, but in the second period The Swifts took advantage of a strong wind in their favour.
The hosts opened the scoring in the 65th minute, Dylan Davies played a neat one-two with Jimmy Wilkes and the striker struck from ten yards.
Ten minutes later and Ryan Griffiths added the Swifts’ second with another well taken ten-yard finish.
The Sports were awarded a penalty in the 75th minute and Niall Kinsella struck from 12 yards to keep his side in it.
In the 80th minute the champions grabbed a crucial third, Dylan Davies cut in from the wing and struck a sweet left foot finish to wrap up the points and give the in-form striker his second goal of the game.
